The AMERICAN SOCIAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION (ASHA) encourages and permits text links to content on its website, www.ashastd.org. However, the AMERICAN SOCIAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION is an organization committed to the highest standards and ethics for online content. Therefore, the linking should not suggest that ASHA promotes or endorses any third party's causes, ideas, commercial or fundraising purposes, political campaigns, websites, products or services, nor use the ASHA copyrighted information or ASHA logo, trademarks or service marks without the express written consent of the AMERICAN SOCIAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION, INC. ASHA reserves the right to withdraw permission for any link at any time without notice or explanation.
Advance written permission to link to www.ashastd.org is necessary. However, be aware that subpages may change at any time without notice. Entities and individuals linking to the ASHA website must continuously verify links to our subpages. Incoming links are directed to the main entry, http://www.ashastd.org/index.cfm. (Deep links are not allowed without special written consent.)
Entities and individuals linking to www.ashastd.org shall not capture ASHA webpages within frames, present ASHA website content as its own, or otherwise misrepresent ASHA website content or misinform users about the origin or ownership of ASHA website content. Any link to a ASHA website should be a full forward link that passes the client browser to ASHA website unencumbered. The back button should return the visitor to its website if the visitor wishes to back out. Also, addition of the ASHA corporate name or abbreviation is not permitted in webpage keywords or metatags.

AMERICAN SOCIAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION has provided links to internet websites maintained by third parties, over which ASHA has no control. ASHA does not endorse the content, operators, products or services of such websites, and is not responsible or liable for the content, operators, availability, accuracy, quality, advertising, products, services or other materials on or available from such websites. ASHA shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, products or services available on or through these websites.
GUIDELINES FOR OUTGOING LINKS (text links only)
The following guidelines have been established to preserve the informational nature of ASHA website. We accept link requests made by federal, state, and local governments, public health agencies, healthcare providers, support groups and educators that provide information and services that pertain to the symptoms, treatments and risks for sexually transmitted infections and diseases.
At its discretion, ASHA may link to any websites that contain information and/or services that further the purpose of the ASHA mission. Every link request must undergo review to determine its relevance and appropriateness. Links are approved if the website is appropriate with the ASHA mission and the website:
- Is not a commercial website which charges a fee for products or services online. (Text links are provided at no charge. ASHA does offer limited advertising content on its websites. Please email ASHA for a rate card.)
- Does not exhibit hate, bias, discrimination, pornography, libelous or otherwise defamatory content.
- Does not belong to or supports a political affiliation, or which promotes the agenda and/or fundraising of a political organization or candidate.
- Is in compliance with Federal and State Internet laws and privacy regulations, such as the Communications Decency Act (CDA), the CAN-SPAM Act and the Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
REQUIREMENTS
ASHA requires that external websites requesting a link on www.ashastd.org meet the following requirements:
- When the user clicks on the external website link, one must have easy access back to the www.ashastd.org.(using the "back button")
- Linked sites must have a privacy policy accessible from their home page informing the user of what information is collected, how it is collected, how it is used, and how the user can review and correct the information.
- Linked sites must comply with accepted standards as provided by the Worldwide Web Consortium (w3c.org) to ensure that persons with disabilities may access these sites. (Section 508 compliance.)
ASHA reserves the right to link to external websites that it feels would provide a service to its audience.
REMOVAL OF LINKS
ASHA reserves the right to deny or remove links without notice or explanation if it determines that a website contains misleading or undocumented claims, conflicts with the ASHA mission, or does not meet the guidelines set forth above. CONTACT US
